Speaking of alternates to rat-shack, does anyone know of a good
electronics place near Rochester or Corning, NY?

Martin,
There are two good electronics stores in downtown Rochester, NY:
- Glenwood Sales - http://www.glenwoodsales.com/
- Goldcrest Electronics - http://www.goldcrestelectronics.com/
Glenwood Sales is a goldmine of electrical & mechanical parts for
hobbyists (read: cheap). Goldcrest sells new (read: pricey) components,
cables, tools, etc. I don't work for either place, but I've spent many
hours roaming their aisles.
I'm also looking for good electronics places near Syracuse, NY, besides
Salina Electronics. Anyone?
