HI All

I am looking for a circuit or an IC to automatically control the
continuous charging of a car / truck lead acid battery.

Silicon chip magazine in August 1992 published a SLA charger designed
for batteries up to 15AH.

Am I correct in that I could take this as the base for charging a normal
lead acid battery or do they require a different charge cycle?

Probably. But are you looking for a circuit to replace an existing in vehicle charging
system or to suplement it?

Yes, the basics for SLA and flooded cells are the same, although there
may be slight differences in cell voltage and temperature
compensation.

Also in equalisation,  boost (flooded only) and fast charging  but
that's probably not on the agenda.
