I haven't yet tried it (it seems to load awfully slow here), but it may be
of interest for someone else... You can work online on a virtual
development board with a set of provided dev tools. This is what they say
about it:

------------------------
Welcome to the VirtuaLab catalog - TechOnline's online lab environment
designed to accelerate the product evaluation and demonstration process via
the web. VirtuaLab delivers a full blown development environment to your
desktop.

   * Access real hardware and software tools
   * Integrate instrumentation
   * Run your own code or sample code
   * Benchmarking across platforms
------------------------

I have been a Techonline member for about 10 years but seldom use
the Virtual Lab feature. Last time I tried it it was too slow. I use the
courses and webcast features from time to time.

By the way, for courses webcast, Berkeley has a good website.

(back from vacation, so responding to some older messages.)

I used one of the freescale virtual labs as part of the "black
widow" contest that ran recently.  I thought it worked reasonably
well, except for a time that it was "broken" in a way that caused
it to behave very strangely indeed...
