HOST mode USB !!!! For the price you would generally be better of with a micro having a USB interface on-board but if you needed to add USB to an existing product this might be a good solution (and possibly your only solution if you wanted to use host mode). Hmmm, unable to get samples of it atm it seems online. thats depressing, I'm wanting to try some USB host mode stuff aswell. I did only a quick scan but I this seems to contain a general-purppose microcontroller, but did not find documentation of the micrcontroller? It looks like they are offering pre-compiled downloads that support different USB tasks, as well as FAT file system. you then control the chip via commands from a Parallel or Serial or SPI interface. Not that anyone here would want to dig any deeper into their embedded controller or anything. ;-) Could be a good way to support a USB memory stick and FAT file support easily though. Everyone does > devices (even PICs). This is a detail which escapes a lot of people. We've used Cypress SL811HS part for host side USB with PIC 18F. Lee Jones
