'[EE] Problem With ICD2: Strange Effects'

face picon face
I'm trying to debug a complex PCB based on LF88
running at 3.5V. For the last 6 weeks, bringing up
the earlier code, no problems were discovered at all.
A 3 week lull ensued, caused by external issues. Now
that they are resolved, I have returned to it, only to
discover than the ICD2 is acting very strangely.

1. The ICD2 seems to work perfectly- no errors are
posted to MPLAB7.0 at all.

2. The LF88 acts like it is operating correctly. The
PA and PB registers act in MPLAB as if they are
working correctly (MPLAB shows them correctly
changing state). But get this: the actual LF88 itself
has no pin state changes at all!!! With a scope attached,
not an edge transition occurs!

3. I have checked for ICD2 debug PGM area overruns,
for protected register overwrites, everything I can think of.

I have one more ICD2 I can switch to, but it is RS232 only.
Before I rip up the station, does anybody have any ideas?

I am running MCs ICD2, short (6") cable, external GND,
on a 1200Mhz 256Mb Win2K system.
