'[EE] Printer port Logic Analyser'
I'm currently trying to use the Printerport Logic analyser software from
to monitor a PIC ports activity, it works but the software is a little quirky
and is very easily crashed.
Does anyone know of a more user friendly program, preferably shareware, that
uses the printer port to record and display 8 TTL data streams.
I've found an article at
that appears ideal but the link to the software is, sadly, defunct. I'd
appreciate hearing from you if you have a copy lurking somewhere, or know of
another source of it.

You could try BG Micro's "SOFTLA". It is software to do exactly what
you want. It isn't free, but it's not very expensive either. It's
about $30.00 or so I believe. And for an extra $20.00 or so, you can
get a kit of parts to make up the cable, complete with little microclips
to connect to the wires. I have it and it works wonderfully.
Under windows 2000 I get "C:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt The system
file is not suitable for running MS_DOS and Microsoft Windows
applications." When I run the Logic.exe file.
webarchive caught it.. download from this link..

Have a look at the autoexec.nt file. It will open in a text editor.
It is the NT equivalent of autoexec.bat for DOS, and sets up the environment
for the DOS box in NT.
