Mercedes Benz vegetable oil conversion
Note that they are not using "biodiesel" per se but straight
unconverted used vegetable oil with filtering. This requires oil
heating and changing to true diesel before stopping (or else).
Some good thoughts thereon

One thing I did not notice there among the 'cons':
There was an item recently on the local TV news about a guy who had done
a biodiesel conversion; usual fluff stuff, etc. The guy managed a
supermarket that had a fryer so he had a good source of material. A
week later there was an update to the item. Seems that due to the first
TV exposure, he had gotten a call from the friendly state tax office,
reminding him that he owed an alternative fuels tax on every gallon of
vegetable oil that he used. Took a sizable bite out of his savings.

And a big problem that exist anyway with unconverted biodiesel, is that it need more combustion time for clean burning, thus unconverted fuel is not suitable for a primitive short cycle cold chamber engine as used in "modern" vehicles.
