Hi,

I have a friend who needs 12 little 12V to 3.3V 1 Amp switcher modules
something along the line of the NSC Simple Switcher technology  LM2575
type.  The time to layout a small board and get them made is probably
longer than just buying 12 modules like that.

Does anyone know of a company that sells small postage stamp size
modules that do this for under $20 or thereabouts

Thanks

There was a company selling small switchers for 5V a few years ago,
but I can't remember the name. I think it can be googled using
"switching supplies".

Google on "anyvolt"

I am using a few of these at the moment in a prototype.

That's perfect!  Thanks.  I'll pass it on.

Hi John,
I just bought a few dc/dc converters from Recom that can be used instead
of the normal LM7805, they also do a 3.3V version. I got them from RS
part numbers 532-8050 for the 5V and 532-8044 for the 3.3V one.
This is the link for their site: http://www.recom-international.com/
They have other types that may suit you.

Best regards

               Luis

I've used Nationals WEBENCH online design tools to design a Simple Switcher
power supply and order a kit of parts including a PCB. Not a bad way to go for
prototypes and small quantities.
