PICers,

A *thousand* pardons for repeating - forgot the [EE]: tag  :(

This follows on from that USB/RS232/radio modems query. OK, USB
connections using a PIC are a definite no go.

Has anyone used or done anything with the Mitsubishi M64282FP
Artificial Retina Chip?

They're monochrome but if you could grab an image (any image) and send
it down an RS232 connection - I'd settle for that!

Thanx - Ian

People have interfaced stuff to a Gameboy Camera, which uses an Artificial
Retina chip. I think someone was using a PIC... don't remember just now.

Here's someone using an AVR: http://pages.zoom.co.uk/andyc/camera.htm

This might be useful: http://www.lh.co.nz/hardware/ar/techinfo.htm

Neat! And according to this:
www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-form/103-2030855-7787822
you can probably get the gameboy camera for less than the price of the chip
inside it...sure beats all those USB thingies.

That link didn't work for me --but using the Amazon search engine, I got $25
for the gameboy camera thru them...  If you were looking around a year ago,
Target was running these on close out for less than $9.  I didn't think I'd
ever get around to using it so I didn't pick any up....  Wish I did now that
I'm playing with my electric cats again...

Thanks guys. That link didn't work for me either. Hmmm ... gameboy
cam, eh? Probably pick one up in a toy store someplace. I'll letya
know how things go - 1st I'll need to get ahold of the retina then
choose the pic. I'm thinking of using a 16f877. Overkill probably but
the 'f84 probably wouldn't have enough pins to round.
