'[EE]: What Output Driver Chip ?'

I am building a PIC controller which will be used for a number of different
applications.

My problem is in the past I have used relay outputs to isolate the
controller to prevent damage. Size is important, so I am looking to use a
quad open collector buffer/inverter chip.
Can anyone recommend a chip which will stand a fair amount of abuse? In
normal operation it will require to sink about 20 - 30mA.

Thanks
Bob.
