As long as we are going [OT]...
Are these posters of die photographs? I'd love to know where to get some.

You may be able to get one by dumpster diving near a semiconductor
company (that is not on the leading edge of technology).

Make sure you do not get the thin kind. It is nearly impossible to
handle without tools afaik. It would be less than 0.5mm thick and at
least 120mm diameter. If you manage to fold it you will find out how
cleaving is done ...

Perhaps you may be lucky finding generic chips like CMOS 40xx or TTL
types like 74xx, but I don't think you have a chance with custom chips.

Consider yourself lucky if you manage that.
In terms of bleeding edge or prototype houses, wafers can be jealously
guarded until properly disposed-of unless you know someone in charge of
disposing them properly.
Even some bug-ridden wafers get sent to customers who ride the bleeding
edge so that they can at least test out some functions while waiting
for next revision prototypes even if the chips on the wafer (as a
whole) don't or will never work.
Previous place I worked with, I was in contact with someone kind enough
to assign a trophy.... yes, there is that "cool" factor to having one.
On the other hand... more generic chips, you might have some luck
dumpster diving but I'm guessing they will be cracked or whatever if
not simply recycled.
Good Luck if diving, but personally, I think you'd have better luck if
going to the front desk and asking if it's possible to get one for
yourself.
