Tal,

These things can be pretty dangerous.

I would just go a buy one ;-)

There are many designs for such circuits on the web.
Having a good search for such via Google and then discussing the results
here would be a good approach.

Here's a Google found starting point complete with circuit somewhat bit
below your power level
Uses ST electronics Viper IC.

       http://www.ednasia.com/index.php?article=0201De_f2

Makers of suitable ICs  include Philips, Linear Technology, ST and just
about everyone else as well.

Suitable metal powder toroids are available which don't need sawing :-)

This article includes references to free design software from a number of
suppliers.
While such software is generally oriented towards the suppliers ICs they
usually provide suitable general purpose design guidelines.

Makers of suitable ICs  include Philips, Linear Technology, ST, TI and just
about everyone else as well.

Suitable metal powder toroids are available which don't need sawing :-)

10x Russell!
i'll try to use it...

believe me a burn so many hours today in google trying to locate
"transformerless power supply schematic" found many tube PSUs' but not a
*real* ready-2-build scheme.

All computers have it. Just add few coils to 12v winding and
replace capacitors. To regulate this voltage change resistor in
5V regulating loop. (Heat transformer before disassembling)
I did it to 150v with XT power suply 10 years ago. It works.
Price of a new computer AT power suply (China) with fan and case  is
about 10 $. If you prefer to build PSU 220v, better copy it.

  I agree with Tal Dayan:
