I am writing an instruction manual for a project.
I would like to use a font (Windows) that looks like or is very similar
to a LCD display.
Any suggestions?

Probably not quite what you're looking for, but make sure you embed the
font in the .doc, and ultimately in your .pdf if you're going to distribute
it as soft-copy...

I've used the bubbledot ICG font which looks very similar to a 5x7 LCD
display.  One exception is that it has a decending "g".  The actual display
font shifts it up a bit.  It's good enough for a manual, though.

Hi Quentin,
I think I've got what you want.
I could mail the font-files to you privately.

regards,

he created on his web page, I think it is

Sounds like a banner ad.  And we probably each will see
a different one.

I saw the banner ad, the "Site not categorized" stuff, a popup window with
more ads, and never did see Tom's site.  Tried with Internet Exploder and
Netscape Aggravator both.

I'm not certain that the "site not categorized" stuff is actually part of
the banner ad at the top of the page. They appear to direct you to different
URLs. I'd just never encountered such a thing and wondered what was going
on. I'll try later when I have some time to poke around on the site.

Regards, Bob

My guess is that Thomas has to ability to assign a category to his web
page so that it can be more easily searched for; he just hasn't actually
done it yet.

The folks at redrival have made it impossible for me to update
my website there unless I pay for their ftp "service". So much
for that being a "free" website. They also recently made a
change that requires me to register my site under a category,
but their software refuses to accept my username and password...
so the redrival.com site is for all practical purposes
dead at this moment in time.

BUT NOT TO WORRY! Try my alternate website:
http://www.mcgahee.freeservers.com/

This is an exact copy of my old redrival site, but without
the hassle. You will find an exact HITACHI style font there
that I made myself and that you can copy and use without any
restrictions other than leaving the font intact.

I did add a typographic left and right double-quote symbol so you
can use it as-is within regualr word processors, but
other than that it is the regular HITACHI character set
including the awful looking descenders.

This site also includes my PICUART.ASM file that helps you
through the ins and outs of using the built-in uart on
PICs. User feedback has been very positive, and the
software has been verified on dozens of different PIC
products. It is safe to say that it will work on ANY PIC
with built-in uart.

The site also has a PIC keypad project and PIC-based
digital capacitance meter. PDF files include schematics.

Quentin,

it is easy.

download it and add it in your font folder.
I just tried it works fine.
