There's a good mix of contractors/consultants and salaried big company people on the list.

Can you comment - was this a personal (quality of life) issue or
does it reflect how hard it is for small shops in the U.S. now?

No, I can still acquire contracts. Its just that since I was operating
out of a small home, a 3-bedroom home, with one full bedroom
tied up with business lab stuff, and the entire storage capability of
the home full of electronic parts, it just was not a happy thing for
my wife. This will free up the storage and a bedroom, and make my wife
happy. I will stay busy enough straightening things out there.

We can entertain and allow Max (our full-sized poodle) to roam the
complete house without worries about him becoming tangled
up in a hot soldering iron.

Originally I had a  2500  sq' ft office near the airbase, complete with
6 homeless people living in the alley between us and the AFB.
My brother, a capable manufacturing and test guy, was with us in the
facility. We owned wire cutting tools, a operating wave soldering
machine, and were making electronic assemblies. At nights, the homeless
people took baths from our water hose then cleaned up the
mess afterwards, so we never complained. But one day in 2003 my brother
told me that he'd like to retire and move to New Mexico
(Ruidoso) with his girlfriend, who had the money to do it. So we closed
that facility and I sold off the FIRST TWO tons of items, and
sold the wave machine to a "machilador" {SP?} (manufacturer) in Mexico.

So it was just myself and my wife, so we bought a house closer to
Mexcio, since we like going down sometimes.

Thanks!
Wanted to make sure the market hadn't totally tanked when I wasn't watching.  :-)

I'm sure that a good part of it is where I am, but it sure feels tanked from
here.
