I think there is already such a system on the market. If I am not misstaken its called "Car-link" and is part of a antiburglar system. There quite probably is, I was just surmising that having got an MP3 system with a wireless NIC to download new files, the effort involved in adding a burglar alarm feature would be very small, the hardest part would be the alarm hardware for the car.
