Microchip actually has a fuzzy logic developement system - they call it
fuzzyTECH - MP.  We have it, but nobody here has used it, and  I don't
know anything about fuzzy control systems, so I can't comment on it's
potential usefulness.  The manual is copyrighted 1994, so it has been
around a while.  I scanned the introduction and was quite amused to
see the terms "fuzzification" and "defuzzification".

It's just peachy. ;-)

I've done a couple of projects with Aptronix system, using Motorola
micros. One of the few, from what I can tell, who have both used it and
compared it realistically to other tools. '94 was about the peak of the
fuzzy mania. If no-one's mentioned it yet, the reigning god of all things
analog Bob Pease ran a debunking article or articles in his column.

One of the problems with fuzzy (besides the silly name, which even Lotfi
Zadeh agrees is a problem) is that it generally trades off more, and
cheaper sensors vs. controller "lack of robustness".. and in this case,
Bob's said the system is pretty much fixed.

Best regards,
