Cool - I'm a contestant!  I figured they'd be suckers for "internet stuff."
I wonder if I should ask permission to continue, just go for it, or pocket
my "winnings" and quit now (~2 months seems like a short time to do what I
said I was going to do, including hardware and SW design all done in "spare
time", but they did fix their rules... (OTOH, maybe I've gotten too used to
long design cycles!))

Congratulations! You have been selected as a contestant for National
   Semiconductor,s COP8FLASH Convert your design to COP8FLASH
Design Contest. You will be receiving your free COP8-EMFLASH design
development tool, and your 5 free samples of COP8CBR9HVA8 Flash
   Microcontrollers in the mail.

I think I would just take the bits and run - not even bother to submit an entry
once I had them. My excuse would be that the project did not get done by the
deadline, that's why they did not receive the entry.

If National read this list I imagine they will cull all PICList members from
consideration for next years competition.

Just looking through the EDN magazine for Dec 21st, and National have a series
of full page adds in there for the COP8Flash series, and are claiming "fixed
price for life" or some such, so I am wondering if you keep ordering them if you
will get them for free [:))
