'[EE]:: Moby Dick as cosmological metaphor'
2007\03\06@082556
by
Russell McMahon
In this free 130 odd page web book this author examines and dismisses
most cosmological theories, proposes his own point of view and
concludes we all may know nothing much about anything.
The whole thing uses the tale of Moby Dick as a metaphor for the
obsessive search for cosmological fulfilment and the pointlessness and
obsession of following what may prove to be a phantasm and what will
quite possibly prove fatal to all. To see how well the metaphor fits
you'll have to read this (and possibly Moby Dick as well!). As MD was
written very much tongue in cheek and experimentally by Melville the
metaphor may be even more apt than he intends.

You think that it is a secret, but it never has been one.

has."
Apparently Moby Dick killed my great-great-great-uncle. But
so many diseases were fatal back then......
