I will *probably* not be reading PICList traffic for a while.

Life has got extremely full (more than usually so) and I find this
mailing list a bit too compulsive for my own good - even when I just
(intend to) skim it and not reply to anything. The same applies to a
few other lists - mainly the ARocket rocketry list. An hour can vanish
in a trice., and I can't afford spare hours just at present.

I don't expect the absence to be too protracted - and it may depend on
how severe the withdrawal symptoms are. Hopefully a week or few. We'll
see.

I'm still receiving list traffic but I've moved the folder somewhere
where I won't see it.

If anyone wants to direct anything my way specifically they can either
copy it to me directly OR include any one (or more) of the following
in subject line or body text. These trap to a special folder. You'll
find that they occur very rarely in normal messages.

       ~~

       .. .

       . ..

       Open Channel D

Which may explain some of my subject lines :-)

If too much traffic suddenly starts including these strings I'll have
to disable them too :-)

Back soon ....

Russell,
I don't believe you.
But seriously, all I have time to even skim is [EE] and sometimes [PIC]
Try turning on threading and deleting whole threads at a time, perhaps.
That's what I have to do if I want to at least attempt school work.

Same for me. I haven't posted in a good month now, far too busy with
school and making electronics rather than just talking about it...

It's too bad though, Russells posts are one of the few I make a point to
read and not delete thread!

See - this got caught by my "tilde trap" and I'm replying to it :-).
I skim headers mainly but get all too easily sucked into interesting
threads, or decide to be "useful", or ... .

I have utterly major commitments to a client which I must meet but
have lost all motivation to do so for reasons which are complex. I
have developed almost an aversion to working on his project. There is
substantial background to this which I won't air here. Suffice it to
say that the client seems to have "melted" even worse than I have for
reasons which are a mystery to me, and that an agent provocateur has
been at work making sure that things go as badly as possible. Now the
deed has been done the AP is all sweetness and light. I have to work
with the AP on an ongoing basis. I have no real idea of why he acted
as he did. He was obviously seeking to achieve some end which is a
mystery to me.

I've never found myself feeling like this before or been in such a
perverse situation (and I've been in a few perverse situations) and,
once out of this most unpleasant situation, I hope never to have it
happen again. Only time will tell. The upshot is that I need to rid
myself of as many distractions as possible. Anything will do to keep
me from the dread tasks :-). BUT the dread tasks must be done with
alacrity and despatch. Once this is all over I hope to be able to have
a look at what happened and why and see how I can avoid it happening
again. For now, its batten down the hatches, hide the mailing list
folders, grit my teeth and proceed. Hopefully.

Keep them cards and ~~letters coming - but not too many :-)

Isnt it amazing when you contract with someone.....how they can go off the deep end? In that situation right now....but there is 3 guys in the partnership...and two of them actually told me to ignore the third guy, anything he says, and don't copy him on emails....guess he went off his meds?  So the project moved forward without him but I often wonder when he might pop up again :-)

So,  . ..  is pronounced ".." and ".. ." as "."?

I suggest we all pitch in and help Russell finish his work, so we can get
him back on the list.

Well, at least now we know he's human :-)
I have trouble finding time to _read_ all of his posts, can't imagine where he finds the time to research and write them.

Good luck

Thanks.

While I'm down I'm intending to augment myself with another 10
terrabyte of online solid state store and add another kbank of
transputers. These may no longer be de rigueur but still give lots of
bang for your buck.

Most people don't seem to have discovered that there is a large slice
of time between about 11pm and 7am. (Look back at the times on all too
many of my posts :-)).

This email came to me courtesy of  "::", "..  ." and "Open Channel D"
