Subject: GSM Modules and transferring data
I am planning to collect some data in one unit and would like to transfer that units data to a computer. I would like to use GSM cards (used in phones) to do this. I would like to trasnfer data as well as be able to send regular SMS to another phone. I prefer simple plug-in modules if possible.
Any ideas or leads?
Thanks,
Ömer Yalhı

I have looked at the site suggested by Lucian and also by Ake Hedman). These products seem very usefull for my purposes. Thank you.
I have some questions (I am very new to GSM). They seem to have 3 versions GSM, GPRS, PCS. They seem to be having the same features. If I would like to use these products with a regular SIM card and be able to send data as well SMS, which one I should be choosing, it is not clear? I will be connecting these units to a PIC or another MCU and send some data at defined intervals.
Also, I could not find information about data sending, although they all clearly send data. How do I send data, after dialing a number and making a connection?
Do you suggest any of their evaluation kits?
Any suggestion is appriciated.
Regards,
Omer
