I am incorporating a portion of an old circuit into one of my designs. The old circuit uses European coded transistors. I have been unable to easily identify a US equivalent on the Web. Some of the parts that I am attempting to translate are the BC183, BC213 and BC550C. Is there a list of equivalents (i.e. 2Nxxxx) out there that someone can direct me to? Recommendations for equivalents would also be welcome. BC183 is an NPN general purpose in a TO92. Looks like a PN2222 or 2N3904 would work. The BC213 looks like its complimentary device (PNP). A PN2907 or 2N3906 should work. The BC550 seems like it could also be replaced by the PN2222 also. For most small signal circuits under 40 volts and from 20 mhz down to DC switching, the above devices should sub out. Rick "David J. BC557 is a VHF 150 mhz PNP in TO92. The BC547 is a general purpose NPN TO92 50 volt good to 300mhz.
