Just curious, who are the admins of this group?  So I know who to be nice to, of course.

Thanks!

Would it kill you to be nice to everyone?

Here we go again.  Would it kill you to understand what I mean instead of what I say?  Jesus cristus.  I said something about our stupid cat just yesterday and my Italian (Romance language speaking) wife had to give me problems about saying our cat was  "stupid".  Please, give me a break, and I'll give you one (I'll always do that, by my nature.)

It was just a freaking way of putting things.

There are nice words like democracy, theocracy, oligargy etc to describe
ways people are ruled. This list, like almost all informal groups I
know, is ruled by those who 'are willing to spend their time to do the
(lousy) job'. Is there a corresponding term for this type of 'rule'?

Back off man! You omitted the smiley that should have been there, and so
did Spehro. Read his post again with this implicit smiley at the end and
there is no need to react in this way (in fact, no need to react at
all).

Now if you want to find out who the [ADMIN:]'s are you could for
instance check the discussions with that tag.

Whoops, that ended badly, Let's try again!

To answer your original question, I believe a list of many of the ardent
supporters are located at
http://www.piclist.com/techref/piclist/support.htm

With the admins modestly near the bottom of the list. Seems like there is
a name or two missing.

James Newton is the most active admin.

P.S. Howcome email is always interpreted in the worst possible light, even
if sent with the best possible intentions?   It is a phenomemon I
continually fail to understand....  I find if I assume the guy on  the
other end of the wire really does have good intentions, then I stay out of
these spats more often.  Also, sarcasm in email never works, even if
surrounded by smileys.  I tend to use fake HTML tags, like this

<sarcasm = on> Got sarcasm?  </Sarcasm>  Maybe that still isn't enough.

James Newton is actually NOT the most active admin. I'm probably the most
active in terms of attempting to police the list so you see me the most, but
Herb (and Josh, but for a recent outage due to ISP issues) are actually much
more active than I. They are managing the... Really stupid... List server
software and taking care of the (literally) hundreds of error messages from
failed deliveries per day.

If we can ever get the time together to make the move to the new mailman
list server at MIT it might be a bit better, but so far no one has had the
time to read up on it and figure out how to migrate us.

I do spend a lot of time on the web site, but David Carey is my right hand
man and co-editor. He has really done a nice job of adding and editing
information about Protel, PCBs, and gobs of other stuff.
www.piclist.com/techref/member/DAV-MP-E62a
Dave and I could sure use some help. Read:
http://www.piclist.com/techref/idea/website/pageedit.htm

Also, yes, the Hall of Fame IS probably missing a few names... Nominate
someone if you like. We are looking for length of service and value of the
donations. Especially people who have willing given things that they could
have charged money for. Honoring them with an email of thanks should be an
obvious duty, but sending a few dollars really makes the point and shows
that you are a true supporter of our community. There is nothing like
"putting your money where you mouth is"
