Is there someone who could tell me where to find a description of
the *.COD file format produced by MPASM.  I have managed to pick apart a
few things, like where the actual code data is placed, but I can't find
parameters like program length, or where to place different segments of
code (if an ORG statement is used).  Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

I'm interested in this too. I have a Prochips emulator that doesn't
understend
HI-TECH C Compiler generated COD file and I nned to know why, so the
description of a COD file would be helpful.

Octavio

We have a full description of the .COD file that is available
to anyone who asks. I will email it to you in a few minutes.

I am curious about what you plan to use it for.

The .COD file format was developed and is owned by Byte Craft Limited.  The
basic design of the .COD file is to allow emulators and simulators do
source level debugging with a minimum of supporting disk I/O.  The .COD
file format is available from Byte Craft Limited to anyone who requests it.

Byte Craft provides technical support for developers wishing to use the
.COD file with their development tools. A variety of tools are available
including formatted dumps and sample file processing tools.

Please direct questions and requests for .COD documentation to:

Likewise I too would be interested in a copy of the specification.  In
fact many observers would I am sure.

1) Patching files as Fred explained.
2) I also fancy the possibility of writing assembler/ compiler code.
3) It's an art-form!  (Or: Seeing how others approach things.)
