I noticed in the i2c application notes that the i2c protocol is
patented, do I need an I2C licence to make & sell devices that use the
SSP port on PICs?  I really have no intention of selling them as I2C
devices, I would just like to use the built-in hardware to make a small
network of somewhat similar devices.

Are there any considerations that I should be aware of?

Jeff
