Some reasons why there are submissives in the world (and thank God there are!)

• Some people feel guilt which is only expunged with a physical sacrifice. The Catholic school girl would be the proto-typical example here, but the truth is that many people grew up getting spanked for doing something that was percieved to be wrong. Carrying guilt can build up such a bad feeling that "paying the price" may feel good rather than bad.
   
• Executives under extreem pressure on a daily basis may find it impossible to enjoy sexual play in which they are expected to make any decisions. Leaving the direction to someone else is a blessed relief.
   
• One child was born with physical problems that necessitated many painful medical procedures. She was taught (accidentally) that pain was good for her; that it would make her better. She has been attracted to bdsm ever since.
   
• A person who was abused when they were younger might become a sub, because he/she associates pain with whatever love and comfort did occur.
   
• A rape victum may find comfort in controlling and even enjoying the same actions that shattered thier life years ago.
   
• There are people who were sexually molested and enjoyed it. Not that this is normal or healthy, but it does happen. Some of them find that they can't enjoy sex now because they feel so guilty for having enjoyed it then. Some feel they need to be punished to atone for enjoying it. And some
