Board making technique (9)

Size setting of the printed board
In case of the freeware tool of EAGLE, the size of the printed board which can be created is upto 100 x 80 mm. If being in the range with this size, you can create a printed board with necessary size. A white line (the border line of the printed board) is drawn when creating a board window newly. The default size is 100 x 80 mm. It arranges the parts at the default size and the size of the printed board can be set by moving border line by Move command after that. However, I think that had better set the border line before arranging the parts to create a printed board with decided size.

Push the grid button and make show a dialog for the grid specifying.

First, set Display to On. The default is Off.
Next, specify the interval of the grid by Size. Also, select Units.
In case of the example on the left, it is the specifying of a grid in the 5-mm interval.

You find out that the printed board size of the default is 100 x 80 mm .
The border line which is drawn with the default is rather shifted with the starting point of the + mark in the lower left.
Why ?
You can move border line using the Move icon . However, because the moving distance of the line is a grid interval, it doesn't become the line which fitted a grid. It is possible to adjust if making a grid interval narrow but to draw once more is easier than it.

Deleting of default border line
It deletes the border line which is drawn before drawing border line once more. To delete a line, it pushes Delete icon . It is possible to delete when clicking each border line after it.

Setting of border line

It uses Wire icon to draw border line.
The important point is to choose 20 Dimension in Select layer of the tool bar which is displayed after pushing Wire icon.

The border line can not be drawn when not choosing 20 Dimension.

Set Width to 0. To be 0 may not be necessary.

With the above, preparation to draw border line was completed.
After this, draw border line with necessary size in the range of 100 x 80 mm.

The size of the example above is 70 x 45 mm.
